Homemade Hair Gel

Hair Gel

This recipe came from Mommypotamus. She deserves the credit for this, I just adapted it a bit for my needs.

Hair Gel

What to use:
  • 1 teaspoon gelatin (if you want less "hold" then use 1/2 teaspoon gelatin)
  • 1 cup very warm purified water
  • 5-10 drops essential oil (optional)
  • 8 oz mason jar

How to make:

1. Dissolve gelatin into warm water.
2.. Add essential oils if desired. Store in mason jar in the fridge.
What I do with it:
Apply to hair like regular hair gel. Store in fridge.

*Mommypotamus came up with this info. I am just passing on what her blog says about the essential oils.*

No 'poo

I decided to try out this "no 'poo" method. Which is basically just abandoning all "normal" hair products and using baking soda, and apple cider vinegar. I have dry hair that is prone to frizz so I opted for around a table spoon of baking soda in a cup of water (I use about 1/4 per wash) and a table spoon of apple cider vinegar in a cup of water (use the whole thing per wash). I still needed a little help with the frizz so I have started adding around a table spoon of honey to my vinegar and water mixture. This seems to help quite a bit. I haven't used anything other then those three ingredients on my hair in 2 weeks. I started out washing my hair every day, but that seemed to make the frizz worse, so I have switched to every 2 days. Between skipping a day and adding the honey I think I am finally getting the frizz/dryness under control.
